Sauber team principal Monisha Kaltenborn has confirmed Rubens Barrichello is being considered as a potential driver for the team in 2014.
With Sergey Sirotkin lined up to be one of the team's race drivers next season, a driver with more experience would be attractive to Sauber with so many new technical regulations coming in to effect. Amid reports that Barrichello has held talks with Sauber, Kaltenborn was willing to acknowledge he is a candidate for a seat next year.
"I always have to give you the same answer on that!" Kaltenborn said. "We will announce in due course … I think there are a couple of options out there and we know what he has - his experience - we know that he would like to come back, so let's see."
However, Kaltenborn also ruled out the chance of Barrichello appearing for the team as early as the Brazilian Grand Prix this year.
"I don't see any possibility there because we have no reason to change our two drivers for that race." (

Side note: Rubens looks like someone took James Dean or Pierce Brosnan, and then smashed his face against a flat surface until it squashed outward like a deformed orange.
I'd be indifferent about the move. I'd like to see him back in the game, but he's just too old to put down anything very noteworthy anymore, there may be better seats out there. I think how much he's willing to fork out for the seat probably has some impact on this too.

You've made Rubens sad with your comment.

He can develop the car, the young kid can fund the car...but who's going to actually race the car competitively?

Does that mean Heiki Kovalainen is also being considered? I know he wanted to be in a faster car.

I've always thought Rubens was severely under-appreciated... I'd like to see him back in F1. That said..... Comebacks are tricky. Kimi is on the rise, but Schumacher couldn't make it work. I'd hate to see him embarrass himself.
